Thursday's field trip

Thursday I have a class called Oxford through the Ages. We got to go on a field trip to New College. The place is wonderful and full of many bible figures and stonework. Harry Potter was also filmed in the cloister section of New College, which you will see below. There are a lot of pictures of this, but I couldn't help myself. Sorry for the blurry ones.

Protesters from Oxford University protesting against the war in Israel

Some door near New College that I just felt like taking a picture of

The three statues are Mary the Virgin in the middle, some random character not from the Bible on the right, and an angel on the left. Below is a closer view

This is the gate to New College

This building we just walked by, I don't know what it is...yet

This is inside New College courtyard.

Victorian Style

More Latin, it's hard to translate, but it talks about some guy and when he lived.

Behind my friend Melanie is a wall and some more of New College behind it. This section of the wall is probably the most formidable part of the wall still left of the city wall.

More wall.

This was a mound with some stairs going up it that we weren't allowed to go to, it looks like some stairway to a wonderful place.

This was some freaky statue inside the Chapel

This was the sweet Organ that was being played while we were inside the Chapel. I wish I had recorded a video of it for the sound.

Windows from inside. The designs are not recognizable from the outside.

These are statues of many characters in the Bible. Jesus in the middle of them all, Mary at the top middle, and you decide who else you can see (if my picture is good enough for that).

This is where Harry Potter was filmed, it is the Cloister.

These were just various plaques and memorial writings all over the walls here. I guess the Harry Potter movies edited this out.

This tree area above is where some character in HP was turned into a ferret

More Latin. Fortem Posce Animum which means "Pray for a brave soul"

  1. Thank you for taking pictures of Harry Potter stuff!! I feel like a dork cause I actually recognized TREES. Oh and it was Draco Malfoy that was turned into the ferret. Looks like it was really neat!
